Halloween

For Halloween, I was a butterfly. I know it's not more exciting, but when you are going to work with Pre-K, you need something comfortable.

One mother was painting faces, so I was like "What the hell?" and I got it done.

Harmony Pics

"Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me," - Judy Garland, Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Because I just really like this shot :D

Inner Self

I have always wanted to be free. Someone completely out there, not caring that others make fun and that others tease (I hate being teased). Someone not afraid to try something new. Someone who is crazy.

Someone who is not afraid to get involved. Someone who will speak up. Someone who would say to her best friend "I hate your boyfriend. I don't understand what the fuck you see in him? He cheated on you! Twice! He's ugly as hell, smokes all different kinds of things, and drinks! What in bloody hell do you see in him?!"

Someone who will say to her brother and mother "Stop making fun of me! It may be funny to you, but I'm getting sick of it!"

Someone who will get up and take a chance. Someone who doesn't feel stupid when they don't get something right the first time around. Someone who doesn't have to make everyone happy and just makes themself happy.

Someone who will dance to their own tune, just because. Someone who can laugh at herself and not look down in shame.

Someone who doesn't care and just goes.

Ryan+Comics=Art

My older brother, Ryan, is what many would consider an artist. That's cause he is. He's not published, but he did have a piece in a museum...but that's another story.

Anyway, Ryan started drawing young. And then he practiced even more during his math class by doodling on the side of his notebook. Then he got a scholership to Adelphi University. Now he's getting his master's in Art Education there.

His dream probably is to draw comics - especially for either Marvel or DC. But, since most of my family are practical human beings, he's going to teach art in college.

Now, on to his work.

I'm not exactly sure what that is a statue of, but it he did it, so it's here.

The Silver Surfer

The Thing

Like I said before, my brother loves comics. So most of his drawings are of characters from either DC or Marvel. And sometimes he even draws his own.

Also my brother draws his friends or actors and singers.

Bruce Springteen

Heath Ledger

Billy Joel. This picture was in a Nassua muesum for a little while when Ryan was a senior in high school.

This is Ryan's teacher.

And this is my personal favorite.

Bradley Whitford, who signed it when I met him. When I showed it to him, he was quite impressed.

Mackenzie Susan

Mackenzie is my second cousin. Shawn - her father - is my mom's sister's son. He is the closet thing we have to family.

Shawn married Mandy in Dec. 2000 and in Oct. 2007 they had their first child, Mack. Her birthday was the 14. Since my birthday is Monday, Shawn and Mack came up for the weekend. She is an unbelievably cute baby. She has very little hair, and it's extrememly light, so unless you are looking straight at her head, you can't see it. She has the biggest cheeks I have ever seen. You just want to pinch them so badly.

She is very close to walking on her own, but we let her use my old walker so she can practice. She caught on very quickly and before we knew it, she was walking back and forth in my house.

She loves the color pick and anything soft - although, who doesnt'? She loves Pooh Bear, which I am very happy about :D

She has big baby blue eyes. They are so blue that if she wasn't a baby, you would swear she was wearing contacts.

She's my little baby, and I can't wait to see her again.

After the Manhattan Trip

So after most of the class when back to Molloy, there were four students left - including me. There was also Julie, Felipe, and Travis, not to mention Mike, Damion, and Don. But i think that this when things got really fun.

when we all met up again at 2:45, we all kind of looked at each other and said "Well, what now?"

Mike suggested we go to the Sept 11 site. So we did. Julie and I went into the church right across the street. Oh man, that was unbelievably sad. You walk in and there is just this dead silence. It's a little spooky. And they had different things like letters kids wrote saying "THANK YOU" and the firemen's clothes that they wore that day. I almost started crying.

When we left, we just started walking until we reached a Peral. There, Mike decided to get some art supplies.

Throughout the day, we went to many galleries. At one I had a little...um...mishap. Julie and Felipe know what happened. LOL. Let's just say I'm never allowed to get too close to art again. LOL.

FINALLY we were able to eat. We ate at a Chinese resturant and it was pretty good. i really like the rice. That was really good.

Finally we got to the show. All day Mike was saying something like "I don't know if I'll go. Maybe I won't" and I thought he was kidding. Apparently he wasn't. He pre-bought everyone's ticket but his own. Finally he decided to come.

The play was werid but cool. It's hard to explain, since a lot of it was movement, but I would like to see, or be in, it again.

It Ain't Me Babe

"It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe" - Bob Dylan, It Ain't Me Babe

About two weeks ago, Mike gave nine of us Bob Dylan songs to talk about in class. But he also said that this song was supposed to repesent our personalities. Only this song is about how he's not the person the girl is looking for, which I get that. But it also says something like "Everything inside is made of stone" and I know that I am not cold hearted. So, how can this song be me? I don't understand. Can someone explain it to me, please?

The Never Ending Manhattan Trip

"I'm in a New York state of mind" - Billy Joel, New York State of Mind

Yesterday was one of the best days I have ever had in Manhattan. And I have had some VERY good days.

Anyway, so the day stated by going into the Brooklyn Museum. That was an okay museum. I mean, the work was good, but it didn't knock me over. I don't know. It didn't move me.

Okay, this I liked. I really like this saying. To me, this is saying that if someone is angry, they seem more interesting. Which, in some cases, is true.

This is when we FINALLY got to the Brooklyn Bridge.

But first we had to take pictures with Manhattan in the background.

And then we started walking across it. Ugh.

And the next post will contain other photos as well as a description of how the rest of the day went. :D
